More of my favorite craft tools…..

Ok, this has been a long time coming.  There has been so much going on but I’m finally getting this post up.

Another of my favorite tools are ‘dies’…they come in many forms and brands.  Some are very simple and other are very intricate. For anyone that does not know what a die is (in relation to paper crafting) they are used to cut various different shapes and they come if a few different forms; here are a few.

The wafer thin dies,da4c7d7c-6983-4aac-a945-39e818c03134 dc55609a-e91a-4ad9-8ff7-79d0e34caa08 these are ‘Spellbinder’ brand.  These are famous for the ability to emboss some of the design of the more intricate dies by running the die through with an embossing mat after cutting them.

to this ‘Sizzix’ brand 458001ca-f0ce-465d-a063-04da1305ad7d bc0572d9-db2b-464c-921d-9ca4187dfa0d 1f81d554-8bb4-49dd-88d5-36d1a009f716 bulky die that have a blade built in it with the foam filler.  These dies can cut more of a variety of materials including chipboard.

These dies are cut by using a ‘Big Shot’, ‘Cuttle Bug’ 93725a30-5e3a-456d-bfbb-9efcee12616f or similar machine.

You can also use an electronic machine such as a Cricut/Cricut Explore7b8c77b2-569d-4b46-ae90-b57b01d8c20f which I purchased recently, or Silhouette Cameo e23717ba-1b73-4e81-a24d-29dcbcab7c5e(which I’ve had for awhile) these both cut shapes on a sticky mat. These machines require that you use their respective online design sites to purchase images as well as design your projects and make the cuts.  I don’t have a great handle on the  Cricut Explore yet but hope to play more with it. The Explore is really a versatile & powerful and you can upload your own SVG files  and cut out print & cut images as well as the Cricut Cartridges you can purchase in craft stores and digital images you can purchase through the Cricut site.  Once I get better at using the Cricut Explore I’ll share some projects I’ve done on it.

The following projects were made using my ‘Silhouette Cameo’ image image image

Here is one of the videos I did to show some of  the dies & die tools I use and these are among my favorite.

Happy Crafting!!
